Thread for puzzle Double back on red. Hints are OK, but please no full solutions.

Maybe my solution is intended, but I think it's a hack. I have separate functions for red and for green arms. Calling them in correct order is hard coded.

Like smylic my solution looks hackish. It solves to green then hard codes the distances from green to next turn.

I won't try to find general solution until you post non-hackable version of puzzle. And I can't imagine any general non-paint solution.

I guarantee you, it is possible. I don't want to post too many similar puzzles, but if you insist I'll make a new. It should be possible to make a longer path if I plan a bit better, and I can of course take away some headroom in the function space.

Too late, it's there.

And seeing how hard this puzzle is, a small hint might be in order. I'm close to the step limit in the unhackable version.
